Craving for some desi food in JLT area? let me introduce to you my new discovery which serves some amazing food with affordable prices. Sounds interesting? This place is spacious enough to throw a party or enjoy friends company over good food and overlooking JLT lake.
This place is by the name Chandini Chowk, no am not taking about an area in India. Infact, if you miss indian taste and want some lipsmacking street food then worry not Chandini Chowk has got your back. I assure you, you won’t get dissapointed.
My husband and I was fasting , they made all the necessary arrangement for breaking our iftar (keep in mind it was dinner review) but the manager Deepak went out of the way and arrange a platter of fruits and drinks for us then led us to the prayer room upon asking for the prayer area. Extra point and respect for all the help they gave us.
We started our culinary journey with live chaat counter and seriously I couldn’t ask for the better start. I am big buff of street food and it was not less than a treat for my palates. I indulge in pani puri, dry puri and dahi puri every single thing was lip smacking and I couldn’t help but to ask for second round (don’t judge me ;p)
In starters we tried Papri Pizza an interesting fusion of desi and Italian, instead of bread all pizza topping was on small papri disc, it was crunchy and yummy.
They have some interesting option in drinks and I was surprised to see Banta Soda in the list. It brought back all the childhood memories and we ordered it twice. That explains all 😉
After this kicking session we ordered for our mains which includes
- Sizzler Platter
- Chinese Rice
- Manchurian
- Szechuan Noodles
- Pamphlet Fish
Deepak suggested us for Sizzler, it was a platter of lipsmacking assorted grills . Each of them was well marinated and grilled to perfection, if you ask for my favorite I would say fish pieces.
Pamphlet fish came on a platter with some greens decoration. It was so well cooked that we finished it in no time.
As a couple we appreciate Indo Chinese than authentic Chinese and here they have wide variety to choose from. We indulge our taste buds with Manchurian accompanied with Chinese rice. Szechuan noodles again was a hit on our table. You can customized the spice level while ordering, we opted for not very spicy version of it.
We ended our session on a hot cup of karak tea and enjoyed every sip of it while relishing the last moments sitting there and chatting with each other.
I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a affordable place in JLT. This place is big on flavors and service is on point. Do check out!
