Ravioli and Co a new place in town that offers nothing but the authentic Italian flavors. I have been many time to Burj Daman building- DIFC for the neighboring restaurant Carnival but this time my host was different. This place boast small outdoors and spacious indoor sitting area.
From fake tear paint walls to the antique hanging lamps, everything here emits vintage vibes. I really like the laid back style of this place, in-short a good spot for a casual meetup. If you are not familiar with the Italian food then menu might seems intricate. I wish the menu came with the visuals of dishes for making unfamiliar familiar. Still I took help with the descriptions and ordered some of the amazing food.
The staff here is friendly, our session started with cheese balls, on which we munch while waiting for our other dishes. The hustle bustle of the open kitchen was visible from the glass separation. The complimentary breads were crisp and fresh, we couldn’t stop but to gobble them.
What we ordered ?
- Arancino
- La Burrata
- Sformatino Toma E Porcini
- Lasagne
- Gnocchi Alla Romana
- Pesce
- Tiramisu
In Starters
Arancino- deep fried rice balls filled with meat and mozzarella served with arrabbiata sauce were filling and came in a good portion. Burrata was fresh and came on the bed of rocket leaves, cherry tomatoes and olives, must try! Third starter was puff pastry filled with toma cheese and porcini mushroom served along with cheese sauce. Try to eat while its hot otherwise it would taste heavy.
In Mains
Layers of thin pasta sheets with marinated beef lasagna baked with cheese was our first choice. I felt the cheese taste was overpowering the taste of beef. I wish the taste of beef and cheese was in balance. Gnocchi alla romana was baked semolina served with taleggio sauce and black truffle, it was new for my palates. Grilled seabass serves with saffron sauce and sauteed veggies was star of the session. It was finished in no time, that explains all. We ordered Patatine- baked potatoes as well but serve forgot to serve us 🙂
Trying not Tiramisu when you are in Italian restaurant is like coming back without trying the specialty. So our choice was obvious in dessert and it was delectable, layers of goodness. For those who don’t know about it, its a coffee dessert but here they present it with a twist of nutella. Other was Profiterole, soft rolls filled with cream covered with chocolate, another choice for chocolate buff.
Thank you Ravioli & Co for the invite and spoiling me with some authentic Italian fare.
