Being a desi, my love for Indo Pak food is so obvious. Recently, got to try this new, precisely three month old cafe Bombay Urban. Located in Al-Barsha area where parking is a struggle but the good news is they offer valet parking courtesy of Rose Park Hotel. If metro is you choice then Sharf DG is at stone’s throw away.
The interiors here give a first impression of classic British Cafe instead of Indian bistro, interesting right? Heavy wooden work and hanging chandelier definitely gives away the fine dining vibes but hold on, food here is gonna impress you in the same coin.
My husband and I was warmly welcomed and after setting down on the reserved table we started to treat our palates with some complimentary Papads and Chutneys, which is a staple starting way in any Indian restaurant. After browsing through the menu and some suggestions by our server we ordered the following dishes
- Soup Manchow
- Shawarma Chicken Fried Dumplings
- Hot Garlic French Fries
- Laal Maas with Arabic Sides
- Assorted Mixed Grills
- Hyderabadi Biryani
- Jalebi with Vanilla Icecream
Savor the hot and spicy flavors of this Chinese vegetable soup Manchow, we couldn’t ask for a better start than this appetizing soup.
In Starters we tried Hot Garlic French Fries, let me tell you am a big sucker of fries so any twist to the original version tempts me to try them. The fries were well coated in the hot garlic sauce served with veggies. I liked the taste of fries but I wish they could have made them in such way that the crispiness factors wouldn’t have compromised, well! who doesn’t like crisp french fries right?
Second starter was Shawarma Fried Dumpling, a fusion of two famous street food Shawarma and Vada Paoo. What you should expect? crunch of fried vada paoo and taste of middle eastern chicken filling, you can notch up the spice level with the chutneys (Cashew nut green and dry coconut) that came along with this fusion take on classic street food.
How about some grilled items? Yes! why not 😉 We relished some succulent pieces of assorted kababs platter including malai tikka, kalimirch kabab, achari fish tikka, grilled prawns etc. The team here makes you feel special by serving each dish to you in a courteous way.
In mains Hyderabadi Biryani and Laal Maas were there to fill us up. Long grain aromatic rice of Biryani with tender well cooked pieces of chicken was definitely a treat for biryani lovers like us. I was full by this time but couldn’t help but to go for second helping, don’t judge me please ;p
Our choices of fresh juices watermelon and pomegranate

In curry our server suggested to try Laal Maas and we happily agreed to his suggestion, am glad it didn’t disappoint us in any way. Traditional Rajisthani Mutton served with a twist of Arabic kubz bread, mutabbal, olives and fried onions. The gravy was flavorful but instead of kubz I enjoyed it with Tandoori Roti.
In dessert Saffron Jalebi with vanilla icecream satiate our sweet cravings.I indulge myself into desi meetha occasionally but the sight of warm crisp jalebi made me weak and the next moment I was luxuriating in the sweet with a cup of hot KaraK Tea. Totally amazing!
So, everyone out there if you are in the hunt of a new place for your desi food fix, head over to Bombay Urban Cafe with you family and friends and enjoy you time over delectable food and prompt service.
