Being a desi foodie, its not less than a treat to visit any restaurant serves food that bring me close to my roots. Karama in Dubai is proliferating with numbers of desi restaurants and taste. Dilli Cious is a new name and just opened its door two weeks back featuring north indian food . I have never been to Delhi but after visiting this place, now I know a little bit more about this metropolitan city through food.
I am from Pakistan and north indian and punjabi food is very close to our taste, thats why I was not worried about the taste as it was like everyday job. The moment you setup in to this place funky colors, bollywood actors artifact and stuff like from every day life, like ethnic accessories, truck wall mounted model and desi vibes transports you back home.
The menu is vast featuring both veg and non veg. It takes time to decide what to order or what not. After taking good 10 mins my husband and I proceeded by giving our order. So, now the question is what we ordered there?
- Murg Kali Mirch Shorba
- Mix Platter of kababs
- Highway Murg
- Fish Tikka Masala
- Dillicious Roti Basket
- Nizami Gosht Biryani
- Kulfi
We started our experience with complimentary spicy papads served along with chutneys and munch on it while observing hustle bustle of open kitchen and waiting for our order to serve.
In starters we had comforting murh kali mirch shoraba and we couldn’t ask for better start than this. Mix platter of kabab includes kastoori, reshmi and malai etc. Kastoori and malai were my favorites among all the variety.
In mains we tried two curries, Highway Murg couldn’t impress me much, it was bit sweet for my liking whereas Fish Tikka Masala curry was luscious and went well with garlic naan.
Instead of ordering single bread we ordered Roti Basket to try all the flavors at once.
All my readers who follows me know that am a big biryani buff. Here after taking suggestion from the server we tried Nizami Gosht Biryani. The meat was well cooked and the melody of meat and spicy rice made every bite worth eating.
We end our lunch on a sweet note of pistachio kulfi which was served in the middle of a sliced mango, quite interesting right? but unfortunately taste wise it was average.
How come we left this desi place without trying out their tea? so ordered and delighted to see that it came in cute little glasses, every glass has different motifs and looks quite apt with the theme.
Would I recommend this place? Yes, definitely try out this new indian restaurant in karama , serves you delectable taste moreover prices are reasonable. However, they need improvement in staff training and not to forget if you are ordering fresh juice make sure to ask not to add sugar assuming it free of sugar and without any additions.
