SEE- Food yes! a new hidden gem by the name Hook & Cook tucked in The Sustainability City near to Arabian Ranches. I have never been to this area before or admit I never came to know if I wasn’t invited to this place. Well I am glad to see this calm residential area with good options of eateries.
Hook and Cook a warm cozy place specialized in all seafood. This venture is owned by a couple. Mouna having a background of management but her passion for cooking compelled her to come up with this and her husband supported her all the way till the interiors of this place, which is beautifully pulled off and won’t be wrong to say, so apt with the concept.
Went there on Friday’s lunch where on entrance I was welcomed on alluring symphony played beautifully by sexaphone. The warm vibes of this place instantly make you feel at ease and after meeting and greeting with the owners we sat down and waited anxiously for placing order.
The menu is available in traditional way as well as on IPAD. I like the IPAD way as you get to see the visual of each dish before placing the order. The menu is craftly curated with number of home made recipes.
What we ordered?
- Starter Platter
- Garden Salad
- Tomato Soup
- Fish n Chips
- Salmon Lasagne
- Zesty Lemon Chicken
- Chocolate Lava Cake
We started our culinary journey with Tomato Soup , zesty flavor with croutons was not less than a comforting dish in this breezy weather. Garden Salad was a melody of healthy greens with cherry tomatoes and cheese chunks.
Aromatic garlic bread serves along with soup and salad and let me tell you it was one of the best I ever had so far. Cripsy exterior but fragrant garlic and butter taste with soft interiors makes it the best version of it. I couldn’t help and asked for the second helping.
Instead of ordering separate dishes we asked for a platter of starters so that we could taste assorted flavors. From battered shrimps to crab cakes to fish croquettes were treat to our palates. I can’t pick my favorite among all these three starters.
In mains we started off with American style Fish n Chips. We sink our teeth in battered high quality fish fillet and enjoyed it with hand cut fries and dip came along with it.
For us fish n chips were the best but we were wrong with the arrival of Salmon Lasagna on our table made us wrong. Lasagna with salmon was new for me and delightfully we didn’t regret on this one at all. Do try it!
Zesty Cajun Chicken another hit item not to be missed. Zesty chicken marinated well in cajun spices and pen fried to the perfection.
Like rice? then don’t forget to order Fish Biryani. Layer of colored rice over the bed of spiced curry would make you to eat without stopping and the raita served with it is a perfect combo. Even being a Pakistani and use to spicy version of biryani I approved it instantly.
Now, come to the most delightful part Dessert. If you are a chocolate lover than with trust me and order Chocolate Lava Cake. Although they took time to serve it but it was worth waiting every bite. Firm layer of cake with oozing lava of chocolate tempted to dig in instantly and believe me it was so hard to share it with my husband as I ordered just one serving. I wish I didn’t 🙂
In drinks we tried Pinacolada, Mojito and Blue Mojito and blue mojito was simply the winner in taste and appearance .
I would definitely recommend this place for all seafood lovers and not to forget if by any chance you are not a fan of seafood they have limited but decent options for non-seafood lover too. Give this place a try and am sure it won’t disappoint you 🙂
