Angelina Tea Room and Patisserie is a coveted famed tearoom and pâtisserie from Paris known for its delicatessen and rich heritage. In 1903 the confectioner Antoine Rumpelmayer founded Angelina, which he named after his daughter-in-law. For over a century the tearoom has built a reputation as a place of sophistication and indulgence and now to treat yourself with luxury you don’t need to travel all the way Paris as its here in land of Sheikhs- Dubai.
This opulent cafe resides at luxury lifestyle mall The Dubai Mall in Fashion Avenue. I was excited when I got an email for a review coz I have been meaning to add this place in my blog for long and finally it was happening.
The moment you enter to this place it feels like walking in any upscale boutique where desserts are in display like gems and tempts you like anything. After waiting for like 5 minutes we were ushered to the table. The dining area is not less than an artistic lounge where giant paintings on the wall gives you vibes of Paris. The tables here are petite more apt for business or a friends meet up.
My husband and I were there on last Friday around 11 am and after going through the menu made our decisions. While waiting for our order we were served a tray of breads with jam and butter. They also served mini Viennoiseries includes croissants, chocolate filled pastry and raisins puff pastry all were fresh and flaky the way it should be.
So coming to our order I opted for Parisian Breakfast and my partner Signature Breakfast. My set of breakfast had eggs of my choice that is omelette with fresh veggies and cheese came along with piece of iceberg and a baby tomato. Where as my partner asked for well done Egg Benedict in the signature set with a choice of salmon and veal bacon and you can have fresh fruits or french toast in this whole full of protein breakfast set. It was no less than a treat to start our Friday.
French Toast is must try over here. Pan fried brioche toast flavored with vanilla and cinnamon served with berries. Ah!!! I am still relishing the taste while writing this up. Let me warn you to have a space as it was filling and after eggs we were unable to finish the platter. Instead of tea or coffee I opted for infamous Hot Chocolate” L’Afriain” which was nothing but a shear pleasure of rich chocolate, don’t forget to try it while it still warm and in this weather it was a perfect choice.
Our server asked for the dessert although we were totally full but didn’t want to miss this delightful opportunity trying out Parisian delights. I tried Craquant Chocolate Noisette, a duo of hazelnut and chocolate flavor that defines well this dessert, crunchy base assembles with layers of assorted chocolate mousse topped with cream and supported with tempered chocolate wall was like an art piece. I so wanted to try Mont Blanc as well but hopefully next time.
The service here is appreciable even the place was totally full and I could see the people were waiting for the table that shows its popularity already among Dubai humans. I would definitely like to go back for trying other desserts which I missed to try this time 🙂
