I must confess straight away, my husband and I we both are hardcore non-vegetarians. We always try to find chicken pieces in our every bite. So, when I got the invite to review Govinda’s, was bit hesitant as I knew its a pure veg eatery but the biryani festival mentioned in the invite compelled me to give it a try. Yes!! I am a big biryani buff
Right now they have 2 outlets and I went to the Umm Suqeim branch. Interiors are simple without any frills. Biryani Festival is from 31st Aur to 3rd Sept’17.
We started our tasting session with a warm comforting Mulligatawny Soup which was a mixture of carrot, celery, coconut, rice and lentils. I can’t tell you how much we both liked it and slurped it all in no time.
In drink we had refreshing coconut breeze, an amazing concoction of coconut water and milk. Must try it.
The server served us 3 variety of biryani Mughlai, Mouth Melting and Paneer Broccoli Biryani. Mughlai one was made in rich cashew gravy with some dry fruits and ingredients like tomato chutney and some spices. Mouth Melting had a delicious fragrance of clarified butter and cooked in an aromatic way rich in tomato sauce and the served with cheese dumplings. The third one was my favourte among the other two that is dum biryani Paneer Broccoli one. Being a non veg I could never imagine this combo biryani would be that good in taste. I was speechless after trying this delectable dish and even my husband who is a carnivorous soul was impressed.
Last but not the least in dessert there was mouthwatering Shahi Tukra with Rabdi, although shahi tukra was a bit hard and it was a struggle to break it but can’t deny it was so lip smacking.
If you are biryani lovers its a perfect time to treat yourself with this biryani festival at Govinda’s
