Zaroob is not a new name among locals and expats. This place has been famous for its simple yet delish food. There is no doubt that Levant food requires acquired taste but once you love it then there is no way back.
Zaroob has many branches across the Dubai. Recently I tried newly launched Zaroob Cafe in Ibn Batuta Mall located feasibly in Chine Wing. Having both smoking and non smoking area, we preferred to sit in non-smoking zone. Famous for its Levant street food this place impress you with its quirky street like ambiance, colorful lights, funky chairs and the local music in the background emits the real feel of local food street.
Each wooden table had paper on the table to tick the order you want to place. Here we ordered
- Leb Hummus
- Shawarma Chicken Salad
- Palestinian Fatteh
- Chicken and Garlic Sammoun
- Shawarma Platter
- Nutella Kaak
- Koshari
- Beef Araya
We started off by ordering fresh juices Pineapple and Pomegranate. Both were refreshing and enliven our senses. Hummus is kind of barometer for me to get to know about the authenticity of the food and I was totally delighted by its authentic taste. Shawarma Chicken Salad had fresh veggies, light is taste and pieces of chicken made it filling. For the first time I tried Palestinian Fatteh which is a combo of yogurt and fired bread and liked it instantly. Chicken and Garlic Sammoun was another light taste filling sandwich between crispy bread. Shawarma Platter came with fries, it was little dry but the sauce on our table made it easy for us to enjoy it. Koshari an egyptian dish, mixture of rice, pasta, chickpeas, spaghetti and lentils, you find the taste a little bland but the taste lifts up with the tomato sauce served along with it. Beef Araya came hot on a wooden platter stand and tantalized our tastebuds.
Don’t forget to try Nutella Kaak here, its a must try. Cripsy bread filled with ample amount of nutella was so good that I forgot my diet and had 2 full pieces with karak chai. All this hearty simple food really made us happy and content.
The service was great with a few servers working so there was always someone around when you need something. Prices are quite reasonable here.
