I have never been a fan of Lebanese cuisine until I land in this sheikhland and now the situation is other way around.Recently tried this Lebanese eatery by the name BAYDAR located on first level of Barsha Mall right opposite to Union Coop.
My experience here has some hit and miss. Boosting simple yet elegant setup with wooden racks and evenly spaced tables gives you laid-back vibes. You can even get the Burj View if you get to sit near the window seat. We were welcomed warmly and after setting down our server helped us to order some of the best from the menu.
This restaurant is of Abela & Co which is serving in UAE food industry for quite sometime now. We started our culinary journey by quenching our thirst on fresh juice and followed by fruit cocktail. We munch on some fresh baked breads while waiting for the order and I must say they were amazing.
After waiting for like more than half an hour cold and hot mezze was served on our table. Hommos, Moutabal, Fatoush, Tabouleh, Batata Hara, Makanek with Molasses, Sujuk with tomato and Capsicum filled our table and we couldn’t wait but to dig in on these healthy options. Hommos for me is a like a barometer of the food and unfortunately it lacked the original taste where as batata hara and tabouleh were finished from our table in no time.
We didn’t know that our server was waiting for us to finish with the starters first and then our main course started to prepare due to which we waited for almost 40 mins more. The long gaps really spoiled the whole experience and even the customer next to our table complained the same.
Well!! when our main course served on the table we were about half way full with the salads but the delicious sight of Mix Grill, Meat Arayes and Lamp Chops compelled us to try them. Mix Grill was well marinated pieces of chicken and meat which my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed but lamp chops couldn’t impress us. Seemed like they were cooked for long time due to which every bite had a burnt taste and rubber texture instead of soft.
We didn’t try desserts here as we were totally full at the end but hopefully next time I will def try their traditional options like Umi Ali and Kunafa.
If you are Lebanese food lover then this place is a good option to try.
