Asado is a term used both for a range of barbecue techniques and the social event of having or attending a barbecue in Argentina. So the name implies its an Argentinian restaurant where you get traditional age-old recipes and premium Argentinean cuisine. I believe its one of the best fine dining place for steak, tucked away in Palace downtown.

After crossing the long corridor we were welcomed by the staff and ushered to our reserved table. Due to weather the outdoor space in not in use otherwise I would have treat myself with the famed view. Wooden table with lit candles looked like a perfect weekend date night setup to us.

We started out culinary session by ordering Virgin Pinacolada and Fresh Lemonade. Both were refreshing and enliven our senses before digging into the food.

A platter of assorted breads came on our table with salted and unsalted butter to munch on till the order arrives. In starters we ordered

  • Empanadas
  • Provoleta Asada
  • Chorizo Criollo
  • Roasted Baby Goat

Empanadas is a stuffed bread or pastry baked or fried, it was filled with spiced chicken, carrot, onion and paprika. Don’t assume it spicy with the ingredient paprika, it was mild and flavorful in taste.

If you’re looking for traditional Argentine food, odds are you’ll find steak and provoleta on the menu. Provoleta is an appetizer or side dish of simple seared and melted provolone cheese, seasoned with herbs and spiced and usually served with plenty of bread for dipping but we had it without bread and let me warn you it was heavy. I bet you can’t eat anything after this hearty rich side dish, thats why I preferred to have its just one or two bites  to keep space for the rest of the menu. Moving on to the another starter Chorizo, it was spicy ground meat sausage with roasted bell peppers.

The chef specially recommend us to try Baby Goat, you can have it in starter portion or as main course serving size, we opted for starter size which was good for two. This roasted meat was well marinated in special in house spices and will definitely delight your palates.

In Main course we opted for

  • Salmon
  • Beef Rib Eye Steak

The staff explain the meat on offer and show you the cuts at your table, with tenderloin, sirloin and rib-eye the specialties. Salmon was my choice where as my husband having a carnivorous diet went for the beef rib eye. Salmon was soft as clouds and well cooked the way I like, it was served on the bed of asparagus. My husband seemed totally engrossed in relishing the medium done flavorful steak with smoky flavor.  As side with both the main we ordered salad, mash potatoes and wedge cut fries.

Now, come to the most exciting part of any dining experience the dessert. We ordered  chocolate fondant and dulce de leche pancakes. The chocolate fondant is something not to be missed it came with a scoop of vanilla icecream. The rich, chocolaty and decadent fondant would make you gaga and I bet you won’t stop having spoon one after the other. The presentation would amaze you with its quirky style of serving like a plant in a clay pot. Cute and totally worth trying, where as the pancakes were roll up roles cut in bite size topped with chocolate drop, this served with dulce de leche icecream. We were unable to decide what to eat or what not, our belly was screaming to stop eating but we managed to ignore its call and satiate our sweet cravings.

Ended our session with a cup of hot green tea and made our way happily back home. No doubt this place not only charms you with food but the ambiance leaves an ineffaceable impression and would definitely compels you to visit again. Thank you to the whole team for this amazing experience.
