Tea plants are native to East Asia and tea is originated in China, where it was used as a medicinal drink,if I am not wrong after water, it is the most widely consumed drink in the world.I am sure you all must have come across with assorted tea, some having a cool, slightly bitter, and astringent flavor, while others have vastly different profiles that include sweet, nutty, floral or grassy notes.

Being an ardent tea lover, getting an invite from a Tea House was no less than a glee moment. This newly launched T- lounge is tucked away in Egypt Court of Ibn Batauta Mall. The cafe has a contemporary feel with warm lights and colorful comfortable seats. The wall on the right upon entering got your attention instantly, adorned with many tea silver boxes and leaves you with the urge to get a pictures in front of it.

They are importing all their single origin tea from Srilanka. The land of finest tea and as they are direct merchandiser so all the teas remain fresh without undergoing different process and time, which usually leads in compromising the taste and aroma.

Founder of Dilmah, Merrill J. Fernando, declared his commitment to tea when in the 1950s he devoted his life to tea. Four decades later he was joined by his two sons, Dilhan and Malik (after whom he named his Dilmah Tea) who share his passion. Today, nearly sixty years on, Merrill and his sons – the Fernando family – have acquired the expertise to grow tea, pack and offer consumers around the world only the finest.

I got to try different teas like white tea with infused dragon balls,it was totally a new taste for my palates but got the acceptance instantly . It was refreshing and every single sip was helping me to grow on its taste.

Tea infuse barometer,isn’t cute?

Other one was pulling tea, you can say Indian Masala Tea,another refreshing take on tea by dilmah, the courteous manager showed us the process of instilling the aroma by pulling the chai and it was worth tasting. They boast more than 200 variety of tea,you name it and they have it.

Apart from tea you can munch on some savory items they have to accompany tea. Menu is limited but perfect for the concept of Tea Store. What I tried there?

  • Three Meat Treat Sub
  • Chicken Sheesh Tawouk
  •  Spicy Chicken Wrap
  • Chicken Ceaser Salad
  • Chicken Waffles

Three Meat Treat Sub– Filling of lamb kofta, tender spicy chicken, strips of turkey bacon topped with BBQ sauce and melted cheese, a treat for meat lovers

Chicken Sheesh Tawoul had chicken shish kebab served in ciabatta bread

Spicy Chicken Wrap was filled with chicken trips with veggies,I wish they put veggies in thin strips instead of big chunks,as it was not easy to bite off.

Chicken Ceaser Salad– This one was my favorite, fresh lettuce with tender chicken strips all drenched in dressing topped with croutons was delightful in taste.

Chicken Waffles– A new version of open sandwich, instead of bread they have used freshly prepared waffles topped with shredded chicken mixture .

We ended our session on the available unique flavors of icecream like

  • Matcha
  • Rose with French Vanilla
  • Mango and starwberry Sorbet
  • Chai t-icecream

My favorites among all these are Chai t-iceam and Rose and French Vanilla. They even have quick bite cakes, cheesecakes and muffins that is beautifully displayed on the counter shelf.

I would definitely recommend this place for all the Tea lovers, even if you are not try it once and you won’t regret it.For me I was more inspired by the tea flavors and I wish they soon have proper cooking stuff to notch up the savory items as they are using frozen stuff, which is a snag for such cool place
