Tortilla is a London based chain specializing in California style Mexican food.Tortilla’s menu is inspired by Mexican street food in California and the owners turned the inspiration into brand.The first outlet was opened in slington, London, in 2007 and now more than 30 outlets are operating across the UK.The brand has ventured into the dubai food scene few months ago.
Yesterday I was at the DFC(Dubai Festival City) for tasting session of this newly opened place of Mexican fare.It is located in skywalk of foodcourt. This place boasts rich vibes, radiant scarlet hanging lamps, decorated wall with traditional Mexican sauces behind the net frames and comfy seating area in short colorful and fun ambiance.
The menu is compact but offers a range of authentic fillings and toppings such as chargrilled chicken, steak and barbacoa and let you customize your food with favorite filling. Options available are grilled chicken,grilled steak, barbacao, camaronses and vegetarian.In drinks they offer mexican chilled margaritas,Jarritos Mexican local brand famous for its innovative flavor, fresh juices and frizzy drinks.

Fajita Rice Bowl: Cilantro rice with barbacao,black beans,roasted peppers,cheese,sour cream and salsa roja. I preferred to add less spicy sauce in my food as am intolerant to extra spicy food.So you can ask them to keep it according to your spice level.Being a rice lover it was a treat for me with lots of healthy ingredients.
Burritos: Soft flour tortilla filles with shredded juicy beed,cilantro rice,black beans,lettuce, salsa and sour cream. Seriously they were filling and superb in taste.I shared it with my husband as I was already half full after relishing healthy bowl of fajita rice.
Quesadilla: A must try fare. Toasted tortilla filled with chicken,cheese and pico de gallo( made up of chopped tomato, onion, coriander leaves, fresh serranos, salt, and key lime juice) served with salsa and sour cream. It tasted divine with sour cream that I shamelessly asked for another serving of cream.
Nachos Queso: Automatically reminds you party or movie time after popcorns. So its was fun to celebrate our tasting session with crispy tortilla chips topped with cheesy cheese sauce,jalapenos,pico de gallo and chunky gucamole.
For quenching our thirst we opted for frozen lime margaritas and barakat fresh orange juice. Margarita was very chilled and gave me shock in terms of brain freeze but fresh orange juice compensated the drink part.
I missed to try the dessert part here as the main menu doesn’t mention any but delivery menu has them and even staff forgot to ask I guess.
I would sum up the whole experience enjoyable comprised of authentic taste and quality ingredients. Definitely a recommended place to try specially if you are in DFC. Home delivery is available
